Since my blog is geared towards discussing the great creators and their works of art, I want to begin by introducing the greatest creator the world has ever known–Elohim, the one and only true Creator.
The very first verse in the Bible introduces Him as such when it says, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” Genesis 1:1 (ESV) This leaves no doubt as to who the the first creator was. Before the first man breathed or put his will to art, God was creating.
He created the light and the darkness, the heavens and the seas, the earth, the vegetation, the sun and the moon, and finally, the animals. A detailed account of this can be read in Genesis 1:3-25. And then, finally, he created his masterpiece; he created, “man in his own image, in the image of God, he created him; male and female he created them.” Genesis 1:27.
Man then took that love that God gave him, the love of art, and began creating. This love points right back to the God who made us. It proves even more how true the verse is that says, “Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.’” Genesis 1:26a.
It should be noted, however, that while we may copy, we can never truly create. God has created all that ever is upon the earth, giving man the ability to reshape and recreate. Ecclesiastes 1:9 says, “What has been is what will be, and what has been done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun.”
So next time you put yourself to art, remember where your talents and loves come from. And then don't forget to give Him the praise.
Deus benedicat tibi
(God bless you)
Good job!!!!
Thank you so much for the wonderful reminder of Who the True Creator is from.
Have you heard of the famous Tolkien quote where he discusses sub-creation? It’s a beautiful and true idea showing our creation in the image of God, and though that image has been tainted by sin it still lives on in us.
Thanks again!
