Two of my blogger friends, Cecelia of Craft, Coffee and Cake and Lizzie Hexam of Starlight and Saucepans, tagged me for the Sunshine Blogger Award. I know I have done this before, but I found it really fun to answer the questions and ask some of my own, so you find this blog post before you again. Thank you so much for the tags, girls!

Before I go on, I’ll list the rules.

1. Display the award’s official logo somewhere on your blog.

2. Thank the person who nominated you.

3. Provide a link to your nominator’s blog.

4. Answer your nominator’s questions.

5. Nominate up to 11 bloggers.

6. Ask your nominees 11 questions.

7. Notify your nominees by commenting on at least one of their blog posts.

And on to the questions!

Cecelia’s Questions

What’s one thing you’ve wanted to do for years, but haven’t got round to doing?

Well, if we’re being honest here, I’ve always wanted to jump on a train as it was flying down the tracks and see where I ended up, but that is both irrational and ridiculous, so I guess I should say that I’ve always wanted to keep a pristine, several-pages-each-day kind of journal. But it’s just too much for me…or else it’s not important enough to me. 😄

What’s one thing you do that your peers don't do? And what’s one thing you don't do that your peers do do?

I'm not sure how to answer this question. I guess, answering based on the typical Gen Z kid I've seen around, most of them don't read, and the majority of them spend a good deal of time on their phone.

What’s your least favorite classic book you’ve read, and why?

Well, I haven’t read very many classic books that I didn’t like, but the one I liked least was probably Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm. I don’t think I liked it because it reminded me too much of Anne of Green Gables but wasn’t as good, and I could never get past that. Maybe I should give it another shot. 🤷‍♀️

If you had to dress in one color for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Definitely blue. I pretty much wear blue all the time anyway, so why not? I’m already used to it!

Excluding the Bible, what was the best spiritual book you’ve read and why was it so good?

Well, I haven’t read very many spiritual books besides the Bible, but the answer is probably Counterfeit Kingdom. I liked it a lot because it was simply written, but very informative regarding a lot of the problems in today’s New Age and contemporary churches.

What was the earliest creative project that you started and still have (even if you didn’t finish it)?

Goodness. The honest answer to this is hilarious. I used to make little people out of empty toilet paper tubes. I glued googly eyes on, drew smiles and glued yarn on as hair. Scraps of material became dresses, and a pipe cleaner got stuck through both sides of the tube to create arms. I was quite obsessed with making as many of these as possible for quite some time. The obsession started when I was probably five or six.

If you could live in one place in England, where would it be?

The Hartland Peninsula. Definitely. My parents went there in 2017, and I loved the photos that they brought back with them.

If you could be a well-known published author, what genre of books would you like to be famous for?

That’s a hard one, because my first answer would be fantasy, and there is a sickening amount of fantasy out there at the moment. I don’t want to be known just for fantasy, but I do think it is the genre I write best in. I suppose the right answer to this is that I want to be famous for fantasy, but famous because it didn’t feel like it came out of a mold.

Which piece of classical music has most inspired you, and why?

Probably Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, the Fourth Movement. It was the first epic taste of Beethoven that I got (I bought the CD at a thrift store and sat down to a good three-or-four-times-listen as soon as I got it.) I also really love Egyptian Dance by Camielle Saint-Seans. Especially performed by the U.S. Navy Band.

What’s one thing someone said to you that made you happy?

The thing that I probably hear the most and that makes me the happiest is that I look like my mom.

If you could swap places with one Jane Austen heroine, who would it be?

I’m thinking Elizabeth Bennet. I know she had horrible sisters, a horrible mother and a very difficult life, but I think she is the most interesting and exciting of all the Austen characters. And of course, I love her personality.

Lizzie’s Questions

What was your first word?

Da-da.

It’s a rainy afternoon. Would you most enjoy going outside and feeling the rain on your face Marianne-Dashwood-style, curling up in a window seat with a good book, or getting your favorite music on and doing some housecleaning?

Are you kidding me? A book for sure. I do get in the housecleaning mood every once in a while, though, and when I do, nothing is safe. 😅

What does your handwriting look like?

Well, I'm not sure if I need a picture for this question or not. I usually print, instead of writing in cursive, and my handwriting is kind of small and curvy.

Which decade in history do you think had the best women’s fashion, and which decade had the best men’s fashion?

For women, that’s easy. I love the 1940s. In fact, I’m making a 40s dress right now. (I can’t wait to finish and wear it!) I really don't have any ideas for the men's fashion. I guess...early 1900s?

What’s your dream career?

I want to be an author and an illustrator.

Name three to five of your favorite fictional characters?

Ah, I like questions like this. Frodo Baggins, Mr. Darcy, Jason Whitaker, Rosalind Penderwick and Laura Ingalls Wilder. (I tried to give a broad variety of genres there…)

What’s one virtue that particularly attracts you in other people?

Charity (or giving). When I was younger, I had a lot of different friends that I made many things for and sent lots of letters. I think I have always liked to make special things for people and send them (or give them). But none of those friends really ever sent anything back. That’s not why I sent the presents in the first place, but it was sad never to get anything in return. Now, I know a lot more friends, and I always get so excited and amazed when I get something in the mail from them.

If you write, which authors do you think have most influenced your writing style? (If you don’t, which authors’ styles do you most admire?)

J. R. R. Tolkien has taught me not to be afraid of description, C. S. Lewis has taught me not to be afraid of being funny, and Laura Ingalls Wilder has taught me to share warmth and family values in my work.

What are the three best and worst period dramas you’ve seen? (Broaden this to movies in general if you’re not a period drama person.)

Thankfully, I watch period dramas. XD

One of the first three that I’ve really enjoyed is Pride and Prejudice (1995). Another one that I like a lot is Bleak House (2005), and lastly I enjoyed Jane Eyre (2011) immensely the last time I watched it. Unfortunately for me 😝 I have a mom who has already watched most of the period dramas in the world. She has shown me all the good ones and I have enjoyed them. Just to answer the question though, I’ll list three movies that I haven’t enjoyed. 1. Moana 2 (controversial or not?)  2. The Patriot (probably definitely controversial) and 3. Napoleon Dynamite (probably don’t like this one because I’ve watched so many period dramas. lol)

Who were some of your earliest role models (either real or fictional?)

My parents will always be my first role models. After that, probably my pastor and other relatives.

What’s one of your favorite prayers/Bible verses?

One of my favorite Bible Verses is Matthew 18:20 that says, “For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” (ESV)

Thank you for tagging me, girls! I really enjoyed answering these questions. It was nice to already have a topic chosen for my next blog post.

My questions are

1.What is your favorite TV show?

2. If you had to choose to live in one part of the world for the rest of your life, where would it be?

3. Would you rather visit the Mariana Trench, or the moon?

4. If you had to choose between books and writing for the rest of your life, which would it be?

5. What is your favorite book of the Bible?

6. What was/is your favorite topic in school?

7. If you could go back to one famous time in history (The Revolutionary War, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony Opening Night etc.) what would it be?

8. What is your favorite animal?

9. Are you an early bird of a night owl?

10. What is in your dream room?

11. Rather similar to question #7, what is one past famous person that you would like to meet?

Your toilet paper tube people actually sound very cute, heh. My first creative passion was much less involved - I liked to neatly color notepaper in stripes and then cut them out in strips. xD

I love 1940s fashion too - how very exciting that you're making your own 1940s dress! Any chance of your posting pictures of it once it's finished? ;)

The 2005 Bleak House is wonderful! I got my family hooked on it, which was very satisfying, lol. I actually haven't seen any of your least favorite choices, but you're one of the first people I've heard of who's seen Napoleon Dynamite and not liked it (truth be told, I'm not sure I would like it…

Ah, yes. I hadn't thought of the obliging hanger! Good idea! I think I shall post pictures then. :D

I didn't think it was funny; I thought it was kind of stupid, but I haven't completely watched the whole thing so... 😐
