Today, I get to interview one of my favourite artists, a woman who actually lives on my street! I have known her since I was eight, and she has been a very big inspiration to me! She has encouraged me by buying me supplies and by giving me suggestions and opinions as she looks through my work. For my birthday one year, she gave me a beautiful painting that I keep hanging right by my desk.

It's such a precious present to me. :)

Well, you've seen what she can do, now on to the questions I was privileged to ask her!

When did you start to realize how much you loved art?

I started drawing around 9 years old and have continued since then. However, I didn't start painting more seriously until 2018.

How has your Christian faith impacted your art?

God has made everything and I can see in His creation His beauty and wonders. I want to magnify this and show it to the viewer. Because God is the ultimate Artist and has placed the desire to create into our hearts.

What is your favourite medium and subject to use? Why?

I started out with pencil, but then transitioned to colours with acrylic, watercolor and inks. I have phases when I do more acrylic and then again watercolor, which is easier to travel with. I love acrylics because they are very forgiving since you can easily paint over and start again. I love to paint animals, flowers, ocean scenes, sunsets and people.

Is art mainly a hobby, or is there a message you would like to share with others through it?

Art is for me an expression of my relationship to my Lord and Savior and an outlet for my soul. I love to bring joy to people with my art. I also like to include Bible verses into my art to connect and highlight God's word.

What do you think more aspiring Christian artists should be told?

I always encourage young artists to express what they feel passionate about, including the unique things that God put into their hearts that the world has not yet seen.

Can you see why I love her art so much? I hope you've been inspired by another artist interview to keep pursuing your loves and artistic talents. There are people who need to hear or see what you have to share. Let me know which one is your favourite. Besides the owls (I'm probably biased because it belongs to me) my favourite is either the little dog (the one right above), or the watercolour bees.

I love to encounter people who use their arts in different ways to honour the Lord. It makes me so happy, encourages the young artist in me and gives me ideas for how I can do the same. I hope this post was an encouragement for you as well!

Thank you for reading!
