š A bucket full of autumn questions...š
So many of the people I know enjoy both blog challenges, and the autumn! Why not combine them? Since it's officially autumn, I decided to step forward and create a blog challenge.
If you don't have a blog, I hope you enjoy reading this anyway. If you do have a blog, I hope you'll enjoy reading this and do it yourself!
The Rules:
Download the cover photo and use it for your post
Acknowledge the person who tagged you
Tag others and comment on their blog to let them know!
Slip into autumn vibes
If autumn isn't your favourite season, what is? And if autumn is your favourite season, why?
No argument here. Autumn is by far my favourite season and will remain so as long as I'm alive. (I hope). The reason I love this particular season is the colours (they're stunning from an artist's point of view), the smells (there's nothing fresher than fallen leaves), and the golden-orange-y sunlight coming through the waving tree branches. I like to be able to go outside without getting sunburned. I enjoy driving with the windows rolled down. I like shuffling through the fallen leaves. No doubt, I will defend the autumn forever. āØ
What is your favourite thing that you do each autumn?
I love hiking. Two weeks ago, my dad, brother and I went hiking on the Appalachian Trail. We hiked about 15 miles, spending two nights under the trees. We drank from streams running off of the mountains, ate tuna from a package with our pocket knives (we forgot utensils) and slept in a 3-person tent that couldn't hide the noises of the owl far away. (No coyotes thankfully!!) While this type of intensive hike only comes once every couple of years, I enjoy the other versions too. The drive-for-and-hour-hike-for-two type of hikes.
And I just love where we live, because we can get this kind of view in one day: there and back.

What are a couple of your favourite autumn memories?
Man, this is a tough one, Autumn. š A lot of my favourite memories in general happen during this season. My birthday is Oct. 24, hikes happen in the autumn, traveling happens in the autumn...but I'll give you one of my favourites.
When I was 7 years old, we were traveling full time in our old truck, looking for where to move. We stayed with friends a great deal of the time, but we also spent time in Ludington, Michigan. My siblings and I got in the lake in October. It was cold. We stayed in a little cabin at a campground for one month. The owners even let us stay there after the campground was officially "closed" for the year. I have a specific memory of picking up acorns for the owners and getting paid 25 cents a bucket.
Another time that autumn, we went picking apples in an orchard. The apple pie my mom made was heavenly.
Those were good times. :)
What book most reminds you of the autumn? Movie?
Little House in the Big Woods starts in the autumn and, while not specifically staying there, carries an autumn, homemade, nutty, candle-y feeling. (Those who've read it get it.) As for movies, it would definitely be Brave. Each person in my family gets to pick their birthday movie and, without fail, every single year since I was 8, I've picked Disney's Brave. I'm counting the days already until I get to watch it again. š
What is your favourite drink for this season?
Do I have to pick between tea and hot chocolate? I'm kidding. I get sick if I drink too much hot chocolate, but I'm not sure I've ever gotten sick of tea. Sometimes, I've had as many as three cups of tea in one day. (Not all caffeinated.) My mornings start with tea, and sometimes my days end with tea. It's a gloriously British drink.
What is one new thing that you want to do this autumn?
Ooh, Autumnš. Why are you asking questions that are difficult to answer? This year, I want to make a whole bunch of healthy, autumn-y deserts. I haven't planned a big event, or something stunning and jaw-dropping for the autumn, but I think making food is one of the best things for a girl to learn to do. (Especially around Thanksgiving time.) If any of y'all have recipe ideas, feel free to drop them in the comments! I'd definitely love to see them. ;)
Do you decorate for the season? If so, how? If not, how come?
No. Shamefully, no. I wish I did decorate, but I have a very good reason not to. NOT. ENOUGH. SPACE. I share a room with my sister, y'all. It's tight and organized enough without breaking out the pumpkins and candles and autumn leaves. But maybe you don't share a room with your sister. If you don't, I'd like to know what your excuse is for not decorating. (I love sharing a room with my sister, by the way. š)
Thanksgiving is a couple of months away; what is your favourite way to celebrate? (I think most of my blogger friends are American. š) If not, skip this one.
My mom has read the tale Cranberry Thanksgiving to me and my siblings since we were wee mites. Every year, we sit on the couch and read it together. We also make the Orange Cranberry Bread described in the book! We make homemade cranberry sauce as well. It's all delicious, and it's fun to think that everyone has certain family traditions. We don't have a great deal of extended family, so we usually have only a few people over. It's so much fun all the same!
What colour most makes you think of autumn?
I'm going to say this just for my brother.
Burnt Sienna.
Since I've been taking art classes, art camps and studying watercolour and coloured pencil, I've learned the names of all kinds of colours. My brother likes to tease me when I say, "The sky has a wash of Cornflower blue with a bit of Cadmium Yellow and Cerulean Blue." (Maybe he's right in teasing me...I don't know)
Type up a list of ten words or names (i.e. White Chicken Chili) that encapsulate the season of autumn for you.
I like these. š
a. Pumpkins
b. Leaves
c. Acorns
d. Tea
e. White Chicken Chili
f. Hiking
g. Sweaters
h. Deserts
i. Open Windows
j. Breezes

I love this!! I like your answer to #3. My family and I chose to live in a camper for about a year because we simply loved the atmosphere, but no one understood us. š
Wow, this was very interesting! I liked it! Good job.
