Last week, I published my deep, thoughtful take on the Christmas season (here). This week, I'm happy to do a fun, easy, cozy book challenge! Of course, if you read last week's post, you are aware that I enjoy the Christmas season a lot. And then, of course, I enjoy books a lot too! So, I'm very excited to share my answers to the questions below. Thank you to Bella Raine for coming up with the tag challenge. :)
Below are the rules. (And you can see that I followed them. 😉)
~ Mention the creator in the post (Bella Raine) and link to the original post.
~ Use the tag graphic somewhere in the post (picture above.)

Without further ado, the "Cozy Christmas Book Tag."
🎄 Soft Blanket: What is one of your comfort books? 🎄

That's easy. The Penderwicks has been a series that I have loved for a very long time. And the second book in the series is probably my favorite. I love the wholesomeness of the book, as well as the constant musical and artistic references. It's such a fun, cozy read.
🎄 Crackling Fireplace: What was the last high action/suspense book you read? 🎄

I don't read a lot of high action/suspense books, but I guess I could say The Fellowship of the Ring. I'm currently wending my way through The Lord of the Rings for the sixth time, though it's been a bit since I last set down The Two Towers.
🎄Christmas Tree: What’s your favorite Christmas book?🎄

This book reminds me a lot of The Penderwicks, in that it is full of children trying to do the right thing and ending up in awful trouble. The first of the series, The Vanderbeekers of 141st Street, takes place at Christmas time and offers Southeastern Mountain girls like me a glimpse into Christmas in New York.
🎄Gently Falling Snow: Name a book with snow (either on the cover or actually in the book).🎄

That's simple. The Long Winter by Laura Ingalls Wilder is a book so well written that it's hard not to get frozen while reading it. It follows the Ingalls family during one of the longest, coldest winters of their lives and what they have to do in order to stay alive. It's not exactly that cozy, roaring fireplace winter story, but it's inspiring and an excellent tale.
🎄Warm Hot Chocolate: Do you like eating or drinking (hot chocolate of course 😉) when reading? 🎄
Of course I do, but it's more often tea than hot chocolate...though I do love hot chocolate. ❤️

🎄 Fuzzy Pajamas: Do you prefer reading at night or in the day?🎄
Well, that's hard to tell. It depends a lot on when I have the time. It always sounds so cozy to read late at night, but anywhere after 9 o'clock, I get so tired I have to go to bed. Given that, I guess that I read during the day, most of the time.

🎄Purring Kitten: Name a book that features your favorite animal. 🎄

I love horses, though I'm not that good at riding them (I don't practice much, so hey, what can I say?) The Horse and His Boy also happens to be one of my favorite stories in The Chronicles of Narnia.
🎄 Wrapped Presents: What was the last book you were gifted?

My sister got me this for my birthday this year, and it is one of the best books ever. Art, The Lord of the Rings, Alan Lee...what could be better? I have loved looking at this and reading all about Alan Lee's journey, both in illustrating the series and in helping Peter Jackson with his trilogy. There are also so many epic sketches in this book, it's hard not to feel inspired.
🎄 Candy Canes: What book comes to mind when you hear the word “sweet”? 🎄

Without a doubt, this book. It is one of the most nostalgic stories ever, so much so that my family and I still read it every year for Thanksgiving. Not only is it a sweet story, but it also includes a recipe for one of the best breads that I have ever eaten.
🎄 Flickering Candles: What was the last book that kept you awake, burning the midnight oil? 🎄

This is a really hard since, as I said earlier, I don't burn midnight oil. Any such book would probably have been read on a Friday night, or during the summer. Honestly, I can't remember a single one. 😆 I'm sure it's happened before, though, and it was probably with The Lord of the Rings, or The Ranger's Apprentice.
And that's the end of the book tag challenge!

What did you think of my answers? Do you enjoy the same books that I do? Or do you think you might go try one after my recommendations? Let me know!
We should probably take a moment to appreciate the fact that a) The Penderwicks has also been one of my all-time favorite book series (series...seriess...serieses?) since I was little, and b), TPO Gardam Street is also my absolute favorite!!! I used to read it in the summertime so in my mind it's always been associated with summer, homeschool, lemonade, and walking around the driveway in the sun. I love it so much!!
Oh, thank you so much for tagging me! This looks like a lot of fun :D
I'm the same with reading at night - I like it in theory, but I also like my early bedtime. :P And The Horse and His Boy is one of my favorite Narnia books as well! Along with The Magician's Nephew...though it's hard to pick favorites, isn't it?

Yayy, Autumn!
Great answers....I am especially interested in the Vanderbeekers book because i haven't read it, I've heard super good things about it, and I would absolutely love to get my hands on it sometime in the near future!
